how their lives were not enough
how those others
were living the worlds
meant for them
undeservingly

disgusted
that change happened too soon
that they had to change in a hurry

dissatisfied
that change did not happen enough
that the world did not change enough for them

there
they went
and
sought
click-bait messiahs
to change the world overnight
to save their world from change

and now
they are left
with their choices
trying to stop time enough
to scrub the reality
they built
in panic

the more things change
the more they stay the same
